A full party name, business name, or citation number can work when the case number is unknown, but statewide results may include people with similar names in other counties. What Washington County Court Records Show

Public Access for Washington County Court Records
Kansas court records are public unless a statute, Kansas Supreme Court rule, or court order makes the record confidential. Restricted Washington County Court Records
Some Washington County court records are not public through CaseSearch, a courthouse terminal, or a clerk copy request from a nonparty. Juvenile offender files, Child in Need of Care cases, adoption records, sealed cases, expunged records, medical or care and treatment matters, and records with protected personal identifiers can be withheld or redacted. Domestic and protection-order cases may also hide addresses, minor identities, or safety-sensitive facts.

When a record is sealed, the practical route is a motion or petition in the court that controls the file, not a broader online search.
Expungement is also different from ordinary sealing. Under K.S.A. 21-6614, certain convictions, arrest records, and diversions may be eligible for expungement. A Washington County petition generally returns to the district court that handled the case, and the person should identify the case number, charge, disposition, sentence completion or discharge date, and waiting-period category before filing. Filing fees were not confirmed in the county research, so the clerk should be called before submitting papers.
Washington County Court Record Requests
For full documents, certified copies, older files, and records not visible online, use the Clerk of the District Court. The county directory identifies the district court clerk line at 785-325-2381. The courthouse address is also the district court records address. Call first when the request involves a sealed file, a very old case, a probate matter, a certified copy, or a deadline.
Records outside the district court follow a different custodian. Sheriff's offense or incident reports go to the Washington County Sheriff's Office at 301 B Street with the county's $10 report fee. KDHE handles eligible vital certificates. KBI handles statewide name-based criminal history checks. Municipal ordinance matters should be routed to the city court or city clerk named on the ticket or notice.
